This Privacy Policy describes Parachute Digital Solutions Inc.’s personal information practices.

“Personal information” means information about an identifiable individual. This may include, without limitation, name, address, age, gender, employment status, medical, health and lifestyle information, credit card or banking information, information relating to prior insurance coverage, personal preferences and other information about an individual’s family or beneficiaries.

Collection and Use of Personal Information

We collect, use and, in some instances, disclose personal information for the purpose of offering, arranging for the issuance of, and administering, insurance products and related services and for other insurance purposes such as but not limited to, preventing and deterring fraud (collectively the “Insurance Purposes”). When necessary, for Insurance Purposes, we may collect, verify or exchange information with independent sources and/or organizations.

Sharing and Disclosure of personal information

When an individual inquires about or applies for insurance products or services, his or her personal information will be shared with the insurers. We may also transfer information to our third party service providers and as such personal information may be accessible to and stored by our service providers. We require all such service providers to keep personal information confidential and secure and to have privacy policies and security standards with respect to personal information that are comparable to our own. In exceptional circumstances, we may be permitted or required by law to disclose personal information to third parties without an individual’s knowledge or consent.

Your personal information may be processed outside Canada for sanctions screening purposes and may be accessible to foreign government, law enforcement and national  security agencies through local laws.

Consent

We shall obtain consent for the collection, use and/or disclosure of personal information, except where inappropriate. Personal information will not be used without consent for purposes other than those for which it was collected. If we wish to use personal information for new or additional purposes, we will obtain consent for such new or additional purposes before doing so.

An individual has the right to withdraw or modify his or her consent to the collection, use and disclosure of personal information. However, we may not be able to process an application, respond to an inquiry or provide any products or services requested, including insurance products and related services if consent is withdrawn.

Accessing personal information

An individual has the right to access, update, and correct inaccuracies in his or her personal information in our custody and control, subject to certain exceptions prescribed by law. We will need to verify identity before providing personal information.

We may not be able to provide access to personal information if the information cannot be separated from the records of others, cannot be disclosed for reasons of security or commercial confidentiality, or is protected by legal privilege. If we cannot provide access to personal information, we will advise of the reasons access is being denied, unless prohibited by law from doing so. Where it is demonstrated that personal information in our possession is inaccurate, we will update our records accordingly. We rely on individuals to assist us in keeping their personal information up to date. Individuals should notify us immediately in the event of a change in address or contact information.

Security of personal information

We have adopted security measures appropriate to the sensitivity of the information to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss or theft. Access to personal information is limited to each of our employees and representatives and those of the Insurers, reinsurers, administrators, consultants and insurance representatives who need to know the information to underwrite or administer insurance products and related services.

We shall only retain personal information for as long as is required to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected. When personal information is no longer necessary, we will take steps to destroy or render anonymous such information. Some personal information may be kept indefinitely depending on regulatory requirements.

Optional marketing purposes

If you have provided your consent, we may use your personal information to offer you products and services. The collection, use and disclosure of personal information for such marketing purposes is entirely optional and is not required as a condition of doing business with us.
